Kind of Science
There are five main types of natural sciences. These types of science include
astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth and space sciences, and physics. There are other kinds of science
within these main types of natural sciences.
In chemistry, scientists work with chemicals in laboratories and must always be careful when mixing
chemicals. Scientists who study the planets and heavenly bodies are using astronomy or the study of
celestial objects.
If you love playing with rocks you may want to learn more about geology! Medical doctors study a great deal
of anatomy so that they understand the parts of the human body very well.

Doctors also study a lot of biology to understand how living things work. Physics, one of the most complex
sciences, involves matter, energy, and forces. Although it doesn’t sound like it from the name, botany is
the study of plants, and ichthyology is the study of fish! What kind of scientist would you like to be?
