My Friends

The term friendship refers to a relationship between people that involves mutual understanding, respect, and affection. Friends will welcome each other’s company and display trustworthiness towards each other in a way that is considered altruistic. Two friends’ interests will usually be alike, and they will enjoy different activities with each other. They will also help each other out by doing things such as giving advice in times of need.

For many people, the level of friendship can vary. Some people have best friends and also acquaintances. The value that is placed on a friendship is often measured by how much a friend consistently demonstrates certain characteristics such as showing the desire for what is best for the other, sympathy, empathy, honesty, loyalty, and a variety of other qualities.

Friends can be one of the most important parts in a person’s life. A good friendship can make all the difference between having a great day or a bad day. As little fledglings, babies are usually surrounded by a family to support and care for them from the very first instant they are born. In a way, your family members are your first friends (perhaps you don’t remember the beginning because you were simply a newborn).

The only difference is that you are related to them, and maybe you see them too often! The starting process to making new friends usually begins in school when you are young. This process can be difficult initially since we were all at least momentarily strangers before we met. As young children, we are novices when it comes to creating friendships. But the process is not as difficult as it sounds. Most children are blithe and find many new things captivating, so the process can be spontaneous.

As we grow up and go to different schools, we make more friends and sometimes we also lose some. We discover that not all friendships are permanent; some friendships are ephemeral. In a way we are beginners again, except that we are more sanguine and know how to approach others better. We may be less effervescent or just as ebullient as our friends, but as friends we still find the same things engaging.

Friends put up with our sometimes erratic behavior, which is hopefully evanescent. They also allow us to enjoy things in life more. Fun activities are often even more fun when you do them with your friends.

For example, going to the movies, playing sports, eating lunch, and even simply hanging out can be more fun with your friends. Friends can also help us make judicious decisions in situations in which we may be a tyro.

They can also turn the dullest moments into vivacious, resplendent occasions. Friends see our embarrassing moments and still accept us even though we may not be urbane. Having sporadic fights with friends is not uncommon. For example, if they are not prompt in meeting you at the movies, and you end up missing it, then you will probably be upset. But at the end of the day, you know that you are still friends.

Some people are lucky enough to have lifelong friends. For many people, having lifelong friends is simply a preposterous idea. However, it does happen, and if you are fortunate enough to experience it, then you should not take it for granted. From the time when we are young neophytes to when we mature, nearly all aspects of life involve dealing with others, whether it’s for a flash of a second or a lengthy encounter. An opportunity for friendship can arise from any of a number of transient moments, but a lifelong friendship is something to be treasured.
